Technology Highlights
- The invention provides a toilet flushing device that is designed to accommodate users with physical disabilities or arthritis, enabling effortless flushing while reducing the risk of falls, strain, or injury.
- The invention includes a cylindrical pivot that is configured to support a member mounted to an exterior surface of a toilet bowl proximal to the rear portion of the bowl. The pivot further supports a member that extends horizontally outward from the bowl.
- The invention includes a pinion gear that rotatably engages a plurality of teeth formed on a rack gear and further rotatably coupled to a flushing mechanism positioned within the toilet tank, the pinion gear extending outward through an aperture formed in a side wall of the tank.
- The invention provides a movable handle between a downwardly depressed position and an alternate upwardly extended position. In the downwardly depressed position, a gap is formed between a stopper member and a lever arm. In the upwardly extended position, a rod is positioned directly beneath and in contact with the stopper member.
- The invention includes a substantially vertically oriented rod that has a bottom end and a top end, the bottom end is pivotably coupled to a rear end of a lever arm, and the top end extends upward along a side wall of the toilet tank and is positioned proximate to an upper portion of the tank.
- The invention provides a downwardly depressed position that is configured to actuate the flushing mechanism via a flush valve actuator to initiate flushing of the toilet. A rubberized covering is disposed across the entire upper surface of the handle to enhance grip.
- The invention provides a stopper member that is attached to an exterior surface of the toilet bowl at a location approximately halfway along the length of the bowl measured from the rear side, the stopper member is positioned diagonally above the pivot support member.
- The invention provides a lever arm having a front end, a rear end, and a cylindrical pivot member that is positioned approximately one-quarter of the length of the lever arm from the rear end. The pivot member is hingedly attached to an outer side of a pivot support member, and the rear end of the lever arm extends rearwardly beyond the rear side of the toilet bowl.
- The invention includes a flush valve actuator comprising a rack gear positioned on the rod proximate its top end and a pinion gear disposed adjacent to a side wall of the toilet tank near an upper portion of the tank, the actuator being operable without a turning motion.
