Situation: Criminal events on the vulnerable group of the population happen on a daily basis. Young children, women, and elderly with

cognitive and/or physical impairment are among the most susceptible to these unwanted events.

Complication: With the increased popularity of smart wearables, more and more personal security apps and wristbands are developed with security

features including GPS tracking and SOS emergency notification. Current application solutions suffer from a big reliance on the smartphone as the carrier (thus a slow response speed) and the current wristbands are not completely safe as they can be easily cut and discarded before the user is able to send out help signals.

Resolution: Shadow is a personal security wristband that provides safety to the next level. With the integration of both active help signaling and passive cut-, impact-, and vital signs detection, Shadow aims to build an emergency network to help the guardians and caregivers to respond as quickly as possible to the happening of unwanted events.
